Back in August, I won the TL;DR Press Word Herd flash fiction contest, with my story “Midnight Symphony.” (For the second time, but who’s counting? LOL)

This is always a fun little contest, where everyone gets individual prompts to write a 1,000 word story. I like that the judges are always really excited about creative usage of the prompts, because I love to live outside the box.

This round my prompts were “wedding guest” and “night owl.” The story received some very kind feedback from the judges, but I think this was my favorite: “Holy crap I love this story! The pain of unrequited love is perfectly offset by the end of the world.“

After the contest, TL;DR always takes the top 25 stories and organizes them into a book. To Fill the Dark With Music is now available. All proceeds go to the amazing folks at Trans Lifeline. For less than a fancy cup of coffee, you can get an e-copy with 25 riveting tales spanning all types of styles and genres, as well as support a really great cause. What are you waiting for?
